New Delhi: Ever since Amazon announced its Echo speakers in India, there has been a steady growth in the number of smart home products that can be controlled by voice. While most of us are well aware of lights that can be controlled via voice commands, there are more such products in India now. Here are some options.
iRobot Roomba robots
Most of the robot vacuum cleaners from iRobot support Alexa-control. With this, you can just command your Echo device to tell the robot to start or stop cleaning, and even set schedules for the robots to work automatically at a set time every day. The functionality is available in the iRobot Roomba i7+, i7, 980, 966, e5 and 671 and more.
Price: starts at ₹27,900
Bose Soundbar 500 and 700
The new soundbars from Bose actually eliminate the need for an actual Echo speaker. They deliver excellent audio quality, better than any Echo speaker from Amazon. Since they have Alexa built in, they can control your TV, lights, smart plugs and more.
Price: ₹59,000 (Soundbar 500) and ₹79,000 (Soundbar 700)
Sony Android TVs
Sony recently added Alexa support to many of its televisions. With this, the company’s Android TV-powered televisions can be controlled by voice. You can tell your speaker to turn the TV on, toggle volume and even change channels on the TV. However, we would suggest keeping the speaker away from the TV, so that the speaker’s microphones can hear your voice correctly.
Price: starts at ₹52,990 (for Sony 43W800F)
Mi Air Purifier 2S
One of the cheapest air purifiers on the market, the Mi Air Purifier 2S can also be controlled via voice. This one, in fact, supports both Alexa and the Google Assistant, meaning either the Echo or Google Home devices can allow voice control. You can turn the purifier on/off through voice and change modes while it‘s running. This is perhaps the cheapest Alexa-enabled air purifier in India.
Orient Electric Aeroslim
This Internet of Things (IoT)-enabled fan can be controlled remotely. But if you have an Echo device, you can also control it via voice.
You can turn the fan on/off through voice commands, and even change its intensity. It’s literally something many of us have wished for when we wake up early in the morning.
