Government Raises Import Tax On Crude Edible Oils To 35%

Mumbai: India, the world’s biggest importer of edible oil, has raised its import tax on some crude edible oils to 35 per cent, and to 45 per cent for refined edible oils, the government said in a notification on Thursday.

The country buys palm oil from Indonesia and Malaysia; and soyoil mainly from Argentina and Brazil, while it purchases sunflower oil from Ukraine.
