Hyundai India registers 67% growth, sold 51,263 units between 10 outgoing models – Times of India

Hyundai Motors India Limited has registered a growth of 67 per cent in May 2022 when compared to its sales figures from May 2021. The company currently manufactures popular models across segments such as the Grand i10 and i20 hatchbacks and the Creta SUV. In total, Hyundai India has sold 51,263 units up till May 2022. They sold 30,703 units in the same month last year.
Out of total units sold, Hyundai India sold 42,293 vehicles in the domestic market, up by 69.2 per cent when compared to the 25,001 vehicles sold in May 2021. Exports have also gone up by 57.3 per cent at 8,970 units as compared to the 5,702 units sold in 2021.

Hyundai India currently sells 10 vehicle models across segments in India. These include the popular Grand i10 and i20 hatchbacks, Verna sedan, Venue compact SUV, Creta and Alcazar SUVs. Hyundai also has the new Tucson SUV and Kona electric SUV on offer in India.

The company has two plants in Tamil Nadu with the primary one being near Chennai. Both plants in Tamil Nadu, observed the scheduled biannual maintenance shut down leading to no production for 6 days from May 16 to 21. This reduced the vehicle availability in the month affecting May 2022 sales numbers (Domestic as well as exports). Starting June 2022, production will be enhanced to cater to the high demand for domestic and export markets ensuring timely deliveries of long waiting customers.
