IMA Scam: CBI seeks to prosecute two Karnataka IPS officers

Bengaluru: The CBI has sought sanction from the State Government to prosecute IPS officers Hemanth Nimbalkar and Ajay Hilori, Dy SP DB Sridhara, then Commercial Street police inspector M Ramesh and his sub inspector P Gowrishankar, and Bengaluru North Assistant Commissioner LC Nagaraj in connection with their alleged complicity in the infamous IMA scam in Bengaluru.

The CBI, in its press release said: “All the above public servants have blatantly and dishonestly favoured IMA Group and allowed them to continue their activities unhindered and failed to take timely action in spte of being directed to conduct enquiry/investigation. RBI has repeatedly written letters to these authorities through State Chief Secretrary and DGP requesting for urgent and suitable action.”

The CBI said their acts favoured kingpin of the scam Mohammed Mansoor Khan and the IMA group, and hence it was seeking sanction to prosecute them. The CBI said the IMA Group raised illegal deposits from about 76,000 innocent deposits to the tune of Rs 4000 crore.
