MARKET LIVE: Sensex tanks 700 pts, Nifty tests 9,800; financials tumble – Business Standard

Indian equity market was trading with over 1.5 per cent cut in the morning session on Monday, in line with trends in Asian peers. 

The S&P BSE Sensex was trading over 700 points lower at 33,066.99 levels and the Nifty50 index was hovering around 9,800 mark. IndusInd Bank (down 6%) and Bajaj Finance (down 3.5%) were the top Sensex laggards while M&M and Sun Pharma gained 1 per cent each.

The trends in Nifty sectoral indices were mixed with Nifty Bank index, down per cent, leading the losses.

Among top highlights of the session, Reliance Industries’ (RIL) partly-paid shares issued under rights issue made a strong stock market debut on Monday, surging 10 per cent to Rs 710.65 on the National Stock Exchange (NSE), in the early morning trade. READ MORE

Today, 56 companies are scheduled to report their numbers including Ashoka Buildcon, JK Tyre, Pfizer, and Tata Motors.
