Market Opens: Indian indices opened strong on October 19 with Nifty around 11850 level.
At 09:16 IST, the Sensex was up 319.59 points or 0.80% at 40302.57, and the Nifty was up 86.40 points or 0.73% at 11848.90. About 739 shares have advanced, 212 shares declined, and 67 shares are unchanged.

Indian markets are likely to open with a positive bias tracking strong global cues amid US stimulus hopes and better-than-expected initial quarterly results. However, global news flows and sector specific developments will be key monitorables.
Market at pre-open: Benchmark indices are trading higher in the pre-opening session with Nifty above 11850.

Due to ongoing pressure in risk assets, the dollar index has started gaining strength once again. A move above 94.20 may open the gates for further upsides towards 95 levels that might take the rupee towards 74. However, we believe the rupee will find a strong hurdle around these levels.

The dollar-rupee October contract on the NSE closed near 73.42 in the last session. The open interest increased by 4.5% in the last session.
