Market Now: BSE FMCG index in the red; Prabhat Dairy top drag


NEW DELHI: The BSE Fast Moving Consumer Goods index was trading 0.26 per cent down at 10,470 around 02:45 pm (IST) on Wednesday.

Shares of Prabhat Dairy (down 6.53 per cent), Pincon Spirit (down 4.97 per cent), Bombay Burmah Trading Corporation (down 3.58 per cent), KRBL (down 3.41 per cent), EID Parry (India) (down 2.31 per cent), Avanti Feeds (down 2.18 per cent), Marico (down 2.05 per cent), Advanced Enzyme Technologies (down 1.85 per cent), Future Consumer (down 1.83 per cent), Manpasand Beverages (down 1.80 per cent), DCM Shriram Industries (down 1.62 per cent) and Radico Khaitan (down 1.57 per cent) were the top losers among the FMCG stocks.

On the other hand, shares of Venky’s (India) (up 8.69 per cent), Waterbase (up 6.58 per cent), Dhampur Sugar Mills (up 5.72 per cent), Mawana Sugars (up 5.52 per cent), Kwality (up 5.50 per cent), Uttam Sugar Mills (up 5.15 per cent), IFB Agro Industries (up 4.99 per cent), Sanwaria Consumer (up 4.85 per cent), Andrew Yule & Company (up 4.76 per cent), VST Industries (up 3.82 per cent), Sakthi Sugars (up 3.51 per cent) and Dalmia Bharat Sugar and Industries (up 3.27 per cent) were trading with gains.

Selling in telecom, metal, auto and financial stocks amid negative Asian cues weighed on benchmark indices.

However, buying in select bank stocks helped markets pare losses.

The BSE Sensex was 94 points down at 33,763, while the NSE Nifty50 index was down 37 points at 10,389.

Among the 30 stocks in the Sensex index, 10 were trading in the green, while 20 were in the red.

YES Bank, State Bank of India, ICICI Bank and Axis Bank were trading up in Sensex index.

However, Hero MotoCorp, ONGC and HDFC were the top losers in the Sensex kitty.
