New car launches in India in January 2023 – Team-BHP

Here is a look at all the important car launches expected to take place in January 2023.

Mahindra Thar 2WD

Mahindra is likely to launch the entry-level 2WD version of the Thar this month and the variant details have already leaked online.

The Thar 4×2 will be offered with two engine options. These include a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol unit producing 150 BHP and 320 Nm, which will be mated with a 6-speed automatic transmission and a 1.5-litre diesel producing 117 BHP and 300 Nm. The latter will come with a 6-speed manual gearbox.

MG Hector facelift

MG has announced that the Hector facelift will be officially unveiled in India on January 5, 2023.

The new Hector will be mechanically identical to the outgoing model. It will continue to use the same 2.0-litre diesel, 1.5-litre turbo-petrol and 1.5-litre mild-hybrid powertrains.

Hyundai Ioniq 5

Hyundai revealed the India-spec Ioniq 5 at an event recently. Bookings for the new EV are now open and customers can place their orders by paying a token amount of Rs 1 lakh.

In India, Hyundai will offer a large battery pack with an ARAI-certified range of 631 km and a rear-mounted electric motor. The Ioniq 5 also supports 800V fast charging, which can charge the battery from 10-80% in 18 minutes.

BMW X1

Some BMW dealers in the country have started accepting pre-bookings for the next-generation X1. Dealers are charging a booking amount of Rs 50,000. The next-gen BMW X1 is expected to be launched at the third BMW Joytown festival in Bangalore on January 28, 2023. Deliveries could commence in the month of March.

The next-generation BMW 7 Series and i7 electric limousine will be launched in India on January 7, 2023. The cars will be presented at Joytown, Bandra Kurla Complex, Mumbai.

Globally, the new 7 Series is offered with petrol, diesel and plug-in hybrid powertrains ranging from a 3.0-litre turbo-petrol to a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8.

The BMW i7 is the all-electric version of the 7 Series. It will be offered in the xDrive60 variant, which packs a 101.7 kWh battery pack.

Mercedes-Benz is said to be gearing up to launch a new high-performance convertible in India. Reports suggest that the AMG E53 Cabriolet will be launched on January 6, 2023.

The E53 Cabriolet uses a 3.0-litre turbo-petrol engine with mild-hybrid tech. It develops 429 BHP and 520 Nm and is paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission that sends power to all four wheels via the 4Matic+ all-wheel drive system.
