Next-gen Maruti Suzuki Celerio: New render – CarToq.com

Maruti Suzuki Celerio is a small hatchback from India’s largest car manufacturer. It has been on sale for over 7 years and it has not received an update in these years. Maruti Suzuki is now working on the next-generation Celerio and the same has been spotted testing on our roads several times. The next-generation of this small hatchback is expected to be launched in coming months but, last week patent images of the upcoming Celerio got leaked and we got a glimpse on how the upcoming hatchback from Maruti Suzuki might look like. When launched, Celerio will compete with cars like Tata Tiago and Hyundai Santro in the segment. Here we have a new render image based on the leaked images showing how the upcoming hatchback might look like.

The render images have been shared by IAB on their YouTube channel. The render image is heavily inspired by the leaked images that we saw last week. The design of the next-generation Celerio is entirely different from the current version that we have on sale. The boxy design of the existing model has been replaced with curvy design with smooth edges. The front fascia of the hatchback has been completely redesigned. It now gets a revised headlamp. The rectangular headlamps were replaced with new units and there is a chrom strip running between the lights towards the Suzuki logo in the center of the grille.

The grille has also been redesigned and the bumper gets a muscular design. The side profile of the hatchback is expected to get some design elements from S-Presso. It will not be getting a tall boy design but, it will carry some design cues. Higher versions will get turn indicators integrated on the ORVMs while the lower variants will have it on the fender. higher trims will also be offered with features like alloy wheels and a touchscreen infotainment screen that will support Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Just like the exterior, the interior on this upcoming hatchback is also expected to completely redesigned.

As mentioned above, this is just a render based on the leaked images. There is a possibility that the production version might be different from the ones that we are seeing in this image. It is expected to be based on the Maruti’s HEARTECT platform which will make lighter yet sturdy and will also offer more space on the inside. Maruti is expected to offer two engine options with the upcoming Celerio. It is expected to get the same engine and gearbox options as the current generation WagonR.

There will be a 1.0 litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that generates 67 bhp and 90 Nm of peak torque. The 1.2 litre naturally aspirated engine is capable of generating 81 Bhp and 113 Nm of peak torque. Both engine options are available with manual and AMT gearbox options. Just like any other models from Maruti Suzuki, the next generation Celerio will also be offered with a company fitted CNG kit. With all these changes, Maruti Suzuki Celerio will be slightly expensive than the current version.
