Ola cabs gave more than ₹20 crore discounts in 2019

Ride-hailing app Ola has said it provided discounts worth 20.87 crore in 2019 — enough for 5,000 vacations in Europe. Cabs of the Benagluru-based unicorn covered a total distance of 6 billion km last year. In a recently released report by the start-up, Ola showed how Indians travelled in 2019.

The national capital remained the single largest market for the company with a record of covering 1.06 billion km in 2019. Out of the total distance, Ola Auto and Ola Bike contributed 46 million km and 33 million km, respectively.

Delhiites covered 924 million km between 6 am to 10 pm followed by Bengaluru that clocked 821 million km at that time. Delhi surpassed Bengaluru and Mumbai in terms of total distance travelled during weekdays. The capital covered 768 million km during weekdays while Bengaluru travelled 642 million km.

Even for weekend trips, Delhi emerged as a clear winner with a record of travelling 297 million km. Bengaluru came in the second position by travelling 271 million km in the weekend.

The national capital also beats the city that never sleeps when it comes to travelling at night. Delhi recorded a total of 7 million trips followed by Bengaluru which booked 6 million trips at night.

Shared services of Ola helped to keep 1.4 million cars off streets in 2019. Ola Outstation emerged as one of the most popular service as it covered 366 million km across 10,000 destinations in the country last year. “Shared mobility has expanded beyond Tier I cities, making deeper inroads into the hinterlands of the country,” said Ola spokesperson while revealing the interesting Ola trends last year.

Ola bike covered a total of 166 million km and Ola’s top bike-partner travelled 38,289 km in 2019. Ola autos covered 1200 million km, the company said. “While four-wheelers remained a preferred mode of commute for longer routes, Ola Auto and Ola Bike are steadily becoming synonymous with first and last-mile connectivity in over 250 cities and towns across India,” said Ola spokesperson.
