RBI’s central board discussed state of financial sector at October meeting

Mumbai: The Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) central board discussed the state of the financial sector at its meeting held in Chandigarh on October 11, the minutes released on Monday showed.

“The board discussed in details the current state of the financial sector with special focus on the regulatory and supervisory architecture of commercial and co-operative banks as also NBFCs,” the minutes of the meeting, that were placed on RBI’s website said.

The specific case of PMC Bank was also discussed.

Apart from this, the central board, which was chaired by Governor Shaktikanta Das, reviewed and took on record the macroeconomic developments and the state of money market during the week.

The board discussions focused on issues relating to financial markets, impact of monsoon on agriculture sector and prices, agricultural infrastructure and the external sector situation.
