Share market update: BSE Midcap index up; LIC Housing gains 4%

NEW DELHI: The BSE Midcap index was trading with gains in Friday’s afternoon session.

Shares of Alstom T&D India (up 4.08 per cent), LIC Housing Finance (up 3.83 per cent), Reliance Nippon (up 3.7 per cent), IDFC First Bank (up 3.44 per cent), L&T Finance Holdings (up 3.41 per cent) and Exide Industries (up 3.34 per cent) were among the top gainers.

Federal Bank (up 3.27 per cent), Union Bank of India (up 2.85 per cent), MRPL (up 2.83 per cent), Page Industries (up 2.72 per cent), Apollo Hospitals Enterprises (up 2.52 per cent) and Reliance Communications (up 2.3 per cent) were the other gainers in the index.

While Reliance Capital (down 3.9 per cent), Whirlpool of India (down 2.64 per cent), Jindal Steel & Power (down 2.32 per cent), Alkem Laboratories (down 1.97 per cent), Reliance Infrastructure (down 1.87 per cent), AU Small Finance Bank (down 1.85 per cent), Reliance Power (down 1.77 per cent), Steel Authority of India (down 1.42 per cent) and Oracle Financial Services Software (down 1.4 per cent) were the top losers in the index.

The S&P BSE MidCap index was trading 0.68 per cent up at 14901.04 around 01:00 pm.

Benchmark NSE Nifty 50 index was up 85.45 points at 12212, while the BSE Sensex was up 294.54 points at 41458.3.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 37 were trading in the green, while 13 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Indiabulls Housing Finance, Bank of Baroda, Hindalco Industries, PNB, BHEL, SBI, SAIL and JSPL were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
