Stock market update: IT shares slip; Mindtree, Wipro among top losers


NEW DELHI: IT shares were trading in the negative zone in Thursday’s morning session as vote count began of Lok Sabha elections.

Shares of Mindtree (down 0.45 per cent), Wipro (down 0.41 per cent), HCL Technologies (down 0.38 per cent) and Oracle Financial Services Software (down 0.34 per cent) were the top losers in the index.

Tata Consultancy Services (down 0.33 per cent), Tech Mahindra (down 0.10 per cent) and Infosys (down 0.02 per cent) too were trading lower.

The Nifty IT index was trading 0.25 per cent down at 15,627.70 around 10:15 am.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 218.15 points at 11,956.05 while the BSE Sensex was up 728.69 points at 39,838.90.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 42 were trading in the green, while 8 were in the red.

Shares of Bank of Baroda, SBI, YES Bank, Vodafone Idea, Adani Enterprises, Adani Power, ICICI Bank, PNB, DLF and BEL were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
