Stocks in focus on April 17, 2018

NEW DELHI: The domestic equity market is likely to see a flat start on Tuesday, tracking Nifty on Singapore Stock Exchnage (SGX). At 08:32 am, the Nifty futures on the SGX were trading 4.50 points, or 0.04 per cent, lower at 10,542.50.

Here is a list of top stocks that are likely to be in focus in today’s trading session:

Agri-linked stocks: In its forecast released on Monday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said it expects monsoon rains to hit Kerala coast by May 15 and projected a normal monsoon for the third year in a row. The monsoon forecast is a positive for Street, said marketmen, who believe a host of agri-consumption sectors would make news on Tuesday. The list may include companies from FMCG, farm equipment, consumer durables and two-wheeler players. Fertiliser and agrochemical stocks such as Chambal Fertilisers, Deepak Fertilisers, Coromandel, Insecticides India, Rallis India, PI Industries and UPL may hog limelight today.

Infosys: Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) has begun a preliminary examination of the allegations made by a whistleblower over inconsistency of Infosys board in Panaya acquisition. The markets regulator also has accepted a consent plea to settle charges of disclosure lapses by Infosys over the severance package paid to former chief financial officer Rajiv Bansal.

Cipla: According to some news reports, the USFDA has issued form 483 with three observations for Indore formulations plant. The stock on Monday closed 5.22 per cent higher at Rs 583.55 apiece on BSE.

Earnings today: Tata Sponge, Crisil and FAG Bearings are some of the notable names that are slated to release their March quarter results today.

Sobha:
Realty firm Sobha on Monday said it has forayed into Gujarat property market and will invest Rs 500 crore to develop a housing project in GIFT City. The Bengaluru-based firm will develop nearly 1,000 apartments in this project. “The company will make an investment of over INR 500 crore towards residential development in Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City),” Sobha said in a statement.

Bajaj Electricals: The company has bagged orders worth Rs 3,577 crore. The stock on Monday closed flat at Rs 619.20 apiece on BSE.

Reliance Communications:
The company in its BSE filing said it remained confident of completion of its asset monetisation programme of approx. Rs 25,000 crore within the next few weeks, in the best interests of its secured lenders.

Adani Ports: As per some news websites, the company has signed long-term regasification pact with IOC. The stock closed 1.53 per cent to Rs 387.80 apiece on BSE.

TeamLease Services: Franklin India Smaller Companies Fund on Monday bought 3 lakh shares of TeamLease Services, which amounts to 1.8 per cent stake in the company, NSE data showed. The fund bought the stake at Rs 2,150 per share. The stock on Monday closed nearly 2 per cent lower at Rs 2,168.35 apiece.
