Hours after the Coordination Committee of the Delhi District Court Bar Associations today termed as “unfortunate” the presser by four seniormost judges of the Supreme Court and threatened to take to the streets if the crisis was not resolved within 10 days, a seven-member delegation of the Bar Council of India reached CJI Dipak Misra’s residence to discuss the crisis in the apex judiciary. It emerged thereafter that Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) President Vikas Singh met Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra.
The senior lawyer told PTI that he handed over a copy of the SCBA resolution to the CJI, who assured him that he would look into it. “I met the CJI and handed over a copy of the resolution. He said that he would look into it and ensure there was congeniality in the Supreme Court at the earliest,” Singh revealed after his 15-minute meeting with Justice Misra.
Before the meet with CJI, the Bar Council of India delegation also met Justice Sharad Arvind Bobde and Justice Kurian Joseph at their residences in Delhi.
On Friday, 4 senior Supreme Court judges, including justice J Chelameswar, Justice Ranjan Gogoi, Justice M B Lokur and Justice Kurian Joseph, virtually protested against CJI Dipak Misra during a press conference they had called. The 4 judges questioned “selective” case allocation and certain judicial orders by the apex court.
