Tech Mahindra introduces new policies for LGBTQ+ employees

IT services provider Tech Mahindra announced that it had added a few initiatives to its Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) policy aimed at supporting employees from the LGBTQ+ community, to help new parents, cancer patients and survivors.

The company said it would grant more time for employees in the first year of parenthood by allowing more flexibility in its ‘Work from home’ policy. As part of the new policy, same-sex couples will also be able to take 12 weeks paid adoption leave, it said. Bereavement leave of three days will also be granted to same-sex partners, it added.

Support groups for employees like new parents, cancer patients / survivors and fitness and lifestyle groups are also being created, according to the company.

Besides these, LGBT committees called Kaleidoscope have been formed across geographies, it said, “These groups share stories of community members to the larger audience to create cultural assimilation and sensitize people. Tech Mahindra is also in the process of adding a gamification element to the ‘Diversity and Inclusion’ training to create a seamless and immersive experience for all employees.”
