Toyota Innova HyCross: Official TVC reveals stunning mileage and acceleration figures – CarToq.com

Toyota has just revealed the India-spec Innova HyCross hybrid MPV. The HyCross will go on sale in January 2023, which is when prices will be announced. For now though, Toyota dealers across India have begun accepting bookings for the new hybrid MPV, and deliveries will commence soon after launch. Meanwhile, here’s an official TVC of the Toyota Innova HyCross.

As the video indicates, Toyota has taken a full five minutes to cover the key aspects of the Innova HyCross. Let’s get the mileage and acceleration of the way first. Powered by a 2 liter petrol strong hybrid engine, the Innova HyCross is the fastest Innova ever built with a 0-100 Kph sprint time of just 9.5 seconds. Forget the Innova Crysta, the HyCross is even faster than the Toyota Fortuner, and much of this performance has to do with the instant torque and peppy response that the hybrid powertrain offers, along with the significant weight savings the monocoque chassis and front wheel drive layout that’s now standard.

Mileage? Well, you can have your cake and eat it too, as the hybrid powertrain ensures that the Innova HyCross is the most efficient Innova ever built with a whopping 21.1 Kmpl mileage figure. Expect to get at least 15 Kmpl in the real world, which is really fantastic for a vehicle with a massive wheelbase of 2,850 mm, and ample space for 7 adults. Yes, the HyCross is larger than the Innova Crysta, and a lot more luxurious, too. From ventilated seats on the first row to Ottoman-style powered seats on the second row, the Innova HyCross takes comfort to the next level.

Other creature comforts include the generous use of soft touch materials across the cabin, a massive panoramic sunroof, art leather seats and a powered tail gate. On the HyCross, safety gets a big leg-up over the Innova Crysta. ADAS makes an appearance for the first time on a Toyota vehicle sold in India, and brings with it features such as adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist, lane departure warning and even traffic sign recognition. Other key features on the new crossover from Toyota include  a 10 inch floating type touchscreen infotainment system, a fully redesigned dashboard, a new instrument cluster and 360 degree camera.

While the Innova name brings an MPV to mind, what we have with the HyCross is more of a crossover, with plenty of SUV-ish styling cues. From the high front bonnet and commanding driving position to a more muscular profile, the Innova HyCross seems like the perfect bridge between the Innova Crysta, and the much more pricier Fortuner. We expect the HyCross to be positioned between the Innova Crysta and Fortuner in terms of pricing as well. Expect prices to start from over Rs. 20 lakh. Competition for the HyCross will come chiefly from 7 seat SUVs such as the Mahindra CUV700, the Tata Safari and the Hyundai Alcazar.
