WhatsApp latest feature: You can soon send animated stickers

WhatsApp constantly keeps updating its software to include a bevy of features to provide smooth messaging and call experience to its users.

Adding to the list, the Facebook-owned messaging app is spotted testing a support for animated stickers pack in its latest WhatsApp Beta update for Android, reported WABetaInfo, a blog that tracks WhatsApp developments.

The blog recently tweeted that there were hints of an animated stickers roll-out in the social messaging app for Android users. Such stickers are already available on other chat apps such as Telegram and others.

All Stickers Packs received a server side update from WhatsApp!
Open WhatsApp > Chat > Stickers button > Plus icon and you see “UPDATE” for all packs you have previously downloaded.

Reasons of the update are actually unknown. Maybe some improvements. pic.twitter.com/h2k1oPsyOP

This animated sticker pack is expected to be added to the stickers tab, whihc already exists on the app. Users will reportedly be able to forward these animated stickers to other contacts just like they forward stagnant stickers and GIFs.

The blog also gave a lowdown of all the sticker packs that can be added in WhatsApp, when the support for animated stickers is publicly available:

The feature is under development and it is there is no official announcement by WhatsApp yet (WaBetaInfo)

However, the feature is under development and it is there is no official announcement by WhatsApp and therefore, it is not unusual if you cannot view the animated stickers yet.

Apart from this, the social messaging app is also gradually inching on bringing the much-hyped Dark Mode feature on its app. However, there there is no official announcement of launch date yet. Similarly, the app may also add a Delete Messages feature too, which will automatically delete messages after a particular time period set by the user and make it look like the message never existed. But there has been no stable release of this feature too.
