WhatsApp rolling out dark mode feature for iPhone users

WhatsApp constantly keeps updating its software to include a bevy of features to provide smooth messaging and call experience to its users. Adding to that, the Facebook-owned messaging app has finally started rolling out the dark mode feature for its users.

Last week, the dark mode feature was spotted on the Android Beta version of the app by WABetaInfo, a blog that tracks WhatsApp developments. Recently, the blog noted that iOS may also get it soon. The blog states that the latest iPhone update of the app can be spotted on iOS test version 2.20.20.17. The update shows traces of Dark mode coming for iPhone users.

The hints that were spotted by the blog include a dark splash screen in the iOS Beta update and it is already enabled by default. This means that WhatsApp Dark Mode for iPhones are really getting closer to its official release on the App Store just like it will release for Android smartphone users soon.

Here are some of the other iOS 13 features for WhatsApp that might be available:

As already mentioned, the WhatsApp dark Splash Screen can be noticed in the test version of iOS. The Splash screen is essentially let users see the WhatsApp logo whenever they open the app on their iPhones. Earlier, it used to only splash in white.

Apart from that, the blog also notes that WhatsApp has also tweaked the forward button symbol in the latest iOS Beta version. Additionally, the group and profile icons were updated too, supporting dark colors. Moreover, the app’s top bar icons have also got updates. Check them out in the screenshots below:

The blog also mentioned that the latest updates can be buggy as they are still in test mode. For starters, the iOS update comes with a bug that will show dark bubbles similar to the Android bug, the blog noted.

In the latest WhatsApp for iOS update the forward button also gets a makeover. WhatsApp has updated the Forward icon design. In addition, the Group and Profile icons are also updated as they now support dark colors. Additionally, the WhatsApp tab bar and chat bar icons have also received an update with the coming of the iOS 2.20.20.17 software update.

The latest iOS update also comes with a bug that will show dark bubbles. It is the same bug that we saw in Android previously. It is expected to get fixed soon.

However, it is worth nothing that WhatsApp has not officially rolloed out the dark mode theme for iOS phones yet. Apart from that, the only dark theme that is currently available is for the Android Beta version. You may download the feature right now. All you need to do is download the latest Android Beta version of the app from its APK version. You can download the APK version by clicking on this link.

WhatsApp is yet to officially release stable version of the dark mode feature for both Android and iOS users. Till then, sit tight for any further announcement on the same. It may come sooner than you expected.
