Hero MotoCorp, the world’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer, achieved a new production milestone as it rolled off 100 millionth motorcycle. The company achieved this milestone by rolling off its 100 millionth two-wheeler (Hero Xtreme 160R bike) from Haridwar facility. With this, Hero MotoCorp has become the only Indian two-wheeler maker to manufacture 10 crore vehicles. It is worth noting that Hero reached this landmark moment after 37 years of operations. The company started selling two-wheelers in 1984 under a joint venture with Honda. However, in 2011, Hero MotoCorp came into being as the JV with Honda ended. Hero MotoCorp manufactured the first 10 million vehicles (1 crore) by 2004 and reached the 5 crore production milestone by 2013. This means that the company manufactured 5 crore two-wheelers in the last seven years.

Pawan Munjal, Chairman and CEO, Hero MotoCorp, said, “Hero MotoCorp has been at the forefront of providing mobility to the aspirations of millions around the world and the achievement of this milestone is the success of evolving engineering, operational excellence and sustainable practices. It is also the success of the holistic ecosystem built on trust and belief that has grown along with this company. Most importantly, this is a celebration of the customers who continue to shower their love and faith on Hero.”

Hero MotoCorp’s 100 millionth vehicle is Xtreme 160R, which is also the brand’s latest offering for the Indian market. Launched in June 2020, it is one of the most powerful motorcycles in its category. It is propelled by a 163 cc air-cooled engine that puts out 15 bhp at 8,500 rpm and 14 Nm of peak torque at 6,500 rpm. The engine uses the company’s xSens technology with 14 different sensors and is coupled to a five-speed gearbox.
